Speedy Bento

posted on: Wednesday, January 28, 2009

Today is the last day to submit your speedy bento to the Lunch In a Box bento forum. I totally had to quickly pack a  lunch for Enzo since Wednesdays are our over the top crazy day. So I decided to take some pictures of my speedy bento and submit it to the forum.

This whole bento took me about 5 minutes to make because I didn't have to cook anything. I did cut his cheese slices into numbers because we've been practicing numbers with him. I have number cookie cutters so that's what I used.

The top tier had sliced apples and a little container with plain yogurt, honey, and granola used for dipping his apples. The container fits perfectly inside the bento box. I had it positioned like this just for the picture.

Making fast lunches these days have been my salvation with my busy school schedule.

  1. I love it! Damaris, I'll have to get lessons from you in bento making when the kiddos come; I love the idea, and I love the Japanese artsy look to it!

  2. Looks good! The thing that really slows me down with "speedy" lunches is the picture-taking. Honestly, it takes like 10 minutes to pack the lunch, then another 10 to take a decent picture. I FAIL!

  3. Hi Biggie,
I didn't factor in the time it took me to take the pictures. Making the bento was fast and taking the pictures took at least another 10 minutes and then posting... yeah not so fast when you factor in all the other things. :)

  6. I like the cheese in number shapes. I'll have to do that with my daughters lunches.

  7. Noelle, you're so funny. I bet your lunches are great.

Weeza, I got the number shapes at the dollar store. It's nice when you don't have to spend a lot of money to make things work

  9. they are hidden in the meatballs. My meatballs are a special recipe that has more sweet potato, carrots, and squash than it does ground beef.
