oh, and another thing about food blogging and then I promise to leave you alone

Is  that you make friends.
I think this is true of blogging in general.
But food blogging gives you friends who cook.
Score! Times a million.

I met Luise and David a couple months ago. I was in California and they were in Sweden. I left a comment on their beautifully-inspiring-life-changing-I want to eat better-blog, Green Kitchen Stories. Then I left another, and another, and another. They had my taste buds at frozen pink cheesecake and they they had my heart at Elsa. So I wrote a post on my blog expressing my deep desire to have them over for dinner one day and because they live in a civilized country where parenting is cherished, they are traveling the world for 6 months while David is in paternity(!) leave, dinner became a reality and much more.

They came over for Halloween. We dressed Elsa up in her first Halloween costume. She was a perfect skeleton. Baby Maria was a crazy chicken. Enzo was a pirate. No pictures of pirate Enzo, it was all in the stolen laptop. LUCKILY, I know David took some. David, send those over when you can.

David takes most of the pictures. They both cook together and full on parent together. They're kind of perfect in a not-in-your-face way. We also took them to the beach, and the aquarium.  We spend a good week eating and bonding. They even babysat my kids. Twice! So tell me what's the difference between a blog friend and a real friend, because I'm honestly starting to believe there are none.

With that said, if you're ever in Santa Cruz do let me know.
I would love to have you over for dinner.

  1. What a great story - it is true, blogging is a great way to make friends, as you can be selective and go straight for the people with shared interests. I also think we are quite honest when we blog, so it is easy to understand where a person is coming from and what makes them tick.

  4. They're so cute! My favorite thing about blogging has been making friends and those friends happen to know lots about cooking and baking too...well, that's so freakin awesome. What I really want to have is a bakefest with some of my favorite food bloggers -- wouldn't that be fun?

  12. Vickie, the quinoa salad is amazing. I wish I could take credit for it but it's all Luise's doing. You can find more on this post http://www.greenkitchenstories.com/avocado-soup-santa-cruz/
