Happy 4th of July.
This year is my second 4th of July as an American Citizen.
There are lots of things I like about this country, food happens to be one of them.
I have this fun new cookbook to giveaway The United States Cookbook: Fabulous Foods and Fascinating Facts From All 50 States. I think your kids will love it. I think you will love it (even if you don't have kids).
For a chance to win please leave a comment telling me what your favorite American food is. For extra comments and chances to win you can follow this blog, subscribe, follow me on twitter, like me on facebook, or do the funky chicken. You can also twitter, facebook, or blog this giveaway. Dang, that is a lot of chances. So please make sure that for every extra thing you do you leave an extra comment. 1 comment will be chosen at random on Wednesday July 7th and the winner will be contacted via e-mail and announced on this post on Thursday July 8th.
This giveaway is open to every one, American or otherwise.
Are you excited? I am. I love me a cookbook.
post edit: Congrats to Wildcat32. You are the luckiest of them all.

I think the hamburger has to be my favorite all American food.
ReplyDeleteI recently read a book on the origin of food in different countries. There was a big shift after WWII in the US. Things that came from different countries all of a sudden became "american" food. Like hot dogs, hamburgers, potato salad (germany), fries (france or belgium), pizza (italy), pies (english) and a whole list of other things. So I guess not only is the US a "melting pot" of people but of food too. Corn is a NORTH american plant, so I guess natvie american recipies would be truly american. My british grandmother would never eat corn becuase she said it was cattle food.
ReplyDeleteSo.......... my favourite american food is....being able to get any kind of food that I might have a fancy for. Freedom. Thats american!

ReplyDeleteMy kids are currently laughing as I show them the funky chicken.
ReplyDeleteYou can not get much more American than hamburgers and hot dogs.
ReplyDeleteThis is a hard choice! Since I love food, but narrowing it down to pepperoni pizza. vickers_73460 at yahoo dot com

ReplyDeleteMy favorite is a cheeseburger.
ReplyDeleteI'm not even sure what is considered American food anymore since so much of our everyday food really has its origins in other countries. I think I will go with good old biscuits and sausage gravy. Homemade of course, none of that canned biscuit stuff or made from a packet gravy!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite American food is Apple Pie.

ReplyDeleteDo mashed potatoes count? If so, definitely mashed potatoes. If not, then American-style pizza...cause pizza is not traditionally American as far as I'm aware, but we made it into what it is today (at least in this country - Domino's, Papa John's).
ReplyDeletedanunepthys(at)hotmail(dot)com
I love the fact that there are so many cultures that are embraced by American cooking! Still, to me, American cooking means a thick, char-grilled hamburger with carmelized onions, a homemade buns, and bbq sauce---cooked at an barbeque with friends and family. Not much more American than that! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for such a great giveaway,
