October cook off
posted on: Monday, October 4, 2010
Happy Monday. Were you able to relax during the weekend? My son, who just started everyday school, freaked out on Saturday when we told him he didn't have school on the weekend. I guess we need to work on teaching him the days of the week.
The weekend was wonderful but I've been looking forward to today. I'm excited to start hosting cook offs and see what fun recipes you come up with. The plan is to do it every month but lets start with October and then go from there.
Whats is it? It's a Kitchen Corners cook off! On the first Monday of every month I will announce a theme. You then get to create a recipe around that theme and share it with other people. Readers will vote on the top three recipes. I'll then cook the three recipes and pick a winner. The winner gets a prize and gets to choose the theme for the next month.
How do I share my recipe? Easy! You'll post your recipe on your blog and share your link on Kitchen Corners. This way we'll all be able to read each other's recipes and get to meet new bloggers.
Does it have to be an original recipe? Nope! As long as you're clear on where you got the recipe it does not have to be something you developed yourself. However, you do need to cook it and post a picture of your finished product on your blog post.
Do I have to be a food blogger to enter my recipe? Everyone is welcome to participate. You don't have to be a food blogger, you just have to have a public blog where you can post your recipe. That's it.
This month we'll be cooking up snacks and to celebrate the plethora of pumpkins we have around this time of year make sure your snack has pumpkin in some form or another as one of the ingredients.
Sponsor: Williams-Sonoma is partnering up with Kitchen Corners to make this event happen. The cook off winner will walk away with something fabulous from Williams-Sonoma. Lucky!
Monday October 11 share your post: Start cooking and start posting. Next Monday there will be a new cook off post ready to host your link. Make sure your post incudes a link to this post. If you would like a Kicthen Corners cook off button let me know and I'll get you the code.
Monday October 18- Wednesday October 20 voting period: Readers will vote on the top three recipes.
Monday October 25 winner announced: Over the weekend I will be trying out the top three recipes (this is what I'm really looking forward to) and on the 25th the winner will be announced.

This sounds like so much fun! So sad that they don't seem to sell pumpkin purée in this country. I will definitely be back for November's cook off!
